Twentymans Funeral Services was established by Robert Twentyman in 1867 during the hectic gold rush days on the Coromandel and traded as R. Twentyman – Builder & Undertaker.

This makes us the oldest operating funeral home in New Zealand. (Click here to see History)

In 1990 the business was sold by the Twentyman family. We have kept the name, and the proud tradition and heritage of a business with its foundations in the last century. At the same time we have introduced innovations which will carry us into the next.

Twentymans Funeral Services spans three centuries with over 130 years of service to the community.

We are members of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand and N.Z. Independant Funeral Homes Ltd. This means we are part of a group of caring professionals who offer 24 hour a day service all year round. It also means that we have met the exacting standards required by the Association, and that we can be relied on to provide an appropriate service with dignity and compassion.

Not all funeral firms are members of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand. Our symbol is your guarantee of professionalism, integrity, and service. All of our staff are registered and qualified, and we are proud to have been awarded the Business Development Board Award for Service. It's a reminder to us of the high standard we set ourselves and maintain.

Just as important as our membership of two National Associations is the fact that we are local people operating a local business. People know us, and we know them. We know the right providers, products and people, and we use the best of these to ensure that we provide the best to you.

Our main office, chapel, and mortuary are located in Grahamstown, Thames . We also have viewing rooms in Te Aroha and Whangamata and viewing rooms and chapels in Whitianga and Paeroa. Our central location means that we can cover all of the Coromandel Peninsula as well as Ngatea, Miranda, and Te Aroha. (Click here to see the map).
