Prepaid Funerals

The Family Bereavement Plan for prepaid funerals can provide you with peace of mind. Generally a lump sum is paid up to the amount which can be afforded. This is deposited with Sovereign Life who run the Funeral Trust on behalf of FDANZ members. Interest on the amount deposited is tax free and is compounded. The money cannot be withdrawn without the provision of a Death Certificate, or you move overseas to live permanently.

A Pre-paid Funeral:

  • Removes the financial burden from your family.
  • Removes the stresses from the person(s) with responsibility for the funeral arrangements.
  • Ensures that your investment is safe.
  • Is portable, the funeral can be carried out by any FDANZ member in New Zealand.
  • Is excluded from asset testing when assessing eligibility for long term residential care for the elderly.
  • Allows you to choose from a range of options: burial or cremation, casket style, embalming, open caskets, and more.

Prearranged Funerals

A prearranged funeral does not require the payment of any money. You can prearrange the details of your funeral with us and we will hold your file. This makes things easier for your family. You can clearly record your wishes – right down to the flowers and the music you would like.

A personal profile record booklet is available free from our Grahamstown office or you can complete the form below. The details requested are those required by the Registrar General when a death is registered.
